The Hayutin Equity Scholarship
We are now accepting applications for our new Hayutin Equity Scholarship for the 2020-21 school year. The scholarship includes (1) 60 minute virtual session every week for the entire academic school year (36 hours of one-on-one tutoring). Any student 1st – 12th grade who identifies as a person of color is eligible. Access to a laptop or iPad and a reliable internet connection is required.
In order to apply, the child (depending on age), parent, or other adult should fill out the online application.
As part of the application, children 6th grade and up should write a paragraph about themselves and what they would like to focus on with their tutoring. The paragraph may include a bit about the student’s hobbies and interests, about who s/he is as a learner, anything the student wishes to include about family background, and what specific support the student would like to receive in the 2020-21 school year. A paragraph from a parent or another adult recommending this student for the scholarship may also be included, but is not required.
For students 1st – 5th, the child does not need to write a paragraph; instead we are looking for a paragraph from the student’s parent or another adult who is recommending the student for the scholarship that covers the same basic information about the student from the adult’s perspective.
Please submit your completed application along with any attachments by July 31, 2020.
A decision will be made as to the recipient of the scholarship by August 7. At this point, the intake process will begin and the scholarship recipient will be paired with an appropriate educator for the 2020-21 school year. Sessions may begin as soon as the week of August 17, 2020.
